Books of the month

Another two books this month! 2010 looks like being a great year for books.

Seth Godin's Linchpin hit just the right spot for me! A personal call to action, this book challenges you to look beyond 'fitting in' and challenge yourself to succeed. I particularly liked two chapters, The Resistance, looks at how to overcome the inner voice that tries to tell you to take the easier road, whilst The Map reminds us that the way forward does not come with instructions.
All in all, a book that I think everyone can benefit from reading!

Switch by Dan 7 Chip Heath is a great follow up to their first book, Made to Stick. Switch is all about change and provides an interesting framework for making this happen. For me it is a great book of ideas for any learning that involves behavioural change (and frankly most learning involves changes in behaviour!). I think anyone who designs learning, whether it be online or workshop-based learning, will benefit from reading this book. I know I've already been influenced by it!

How to use this page
On this page I've listed a wide range of books that have influenced my approach to learning. Most books have links to Amazon, helpful in that you will also find detailed reviews of each book that may help you to decide whether to read the book. If you are in Australia you may find it worthwhile comparing local suppliers' prices with Amazon, they seem to vary a reasonable amount.
