February 10 Two books this month! 2010 looks like being a great year for books.
Garr Reynold's new book, PresentationZen Design builds upon his original PresentationZen book. The emphasis in this new book however is design. You can read a full review of this book on my blog.
Dan Pink's new book explains that there is a gap between business practice and science. Perhaps in the past the carrot and the stick approach may have motivated staff however in the new century a new approach is needed, one which focusses upon worker autonomy, mastery of skills and purpose. With many lessons for organisational learning all educators and businesses should give this a read!

A bit of a left-field choice this month! John Hunt's new book, The Art of the Idea is a great creativity starter. John writes his book in terms of 20 'observations', such as "You get sunrise people and sunset people" and "Expediency is not an idea". Learning should all be about new ideas and seeing thing from new perspectives. This book provides learning professionals with a fresh look at creativity and should also stimulate your own creativity when designing learning.
One last point, the design of the book alone is worth the purchase price!
And a very cool website!

Mitch Joel's book is in many ways a summary of his blog postings over the last few years. It's still worth a read however! The byline for the book is " Everyone is Connected. Connect your Business to Everyone". For anyone involved in learning, you should realise by now that connectedness is changing the available learning paths, online, social sites, wikis and so forth. This books neatly lays this out for readers giving you a perspective on where things lie now as well as a peak over the horizon towards an ever more connected world!
